How to do it:

  • Stand or sit tall with your feet hip-width apart.

  • Hold a rolled-up towel with both hands at shoulder height, arms extended straight in front of you.

  • Engage your core and keep your shoulders relaxed.

  • Gently pull the towel apart by moving your hands outward, squeezing your shoulder blades together.

  • Pause briefly at the end of the movement, maintaining tension in the towel.

  • Slowly return to the starting position with control and repeat.

Why it’s effective:

The Shoulder Towel Pull-Apart targets the posterior shoulder muscles, rhomboids, and upper back. Strengthening these areas helps correct postural imbalances, improve shoulder alignment, and reduce the risk of shoulder strain or discomfort from repetitive forward movements.

Common benefits:

Strengthens shoulders, upper back, and postural muscles, improves shoulder mobility and stability, helps correct rounded shoulders and forward posture, reduces tension in the neck and upper back and enhances shoulder control for daily movement and exercise.
